It was two days filled with ABBA music. I never listened to them much, it was always an odd song or two - dancing queen or happy new year. But those were so ad -hoc. I mean how moved will you be listening to 'happy new year' on a hot april afternoon. So I could not find addiction in the swedish brand of music. But this weekend changed my listening patterns - basically my idea was to flaunt the new blue headphone - I started listening to something wherever I went. And by chance my USB 2GB had a full abba album. And this weekend I travelled home,(I had to visit the home folk offcourse ,before my first long trip outside India which is going to be UK on april 3rd)
By the way my USB was once described '2GB Of bullshit' by Jovin. We were driving in amars car as usual , and I was the DJ as usual. ('D'oni 'J'ames has to be naturally the DJ but what happens usually is , I start selecting songs and people start to get really angry.) I invariably end up playing Linkin park or Green day - the everybodys favourites , and not the best of best. Casual listeners never catch the magic of the best songs on the first go - It takes real music sense to sense a beauty at first listening. I very often do.. Thats why I am D.J.

Jovin got really angry as I continued playing numbers like 'Sultans ofswing'.Rare songs most of them , the DJ could not make the waves as usual.I never make. And when jovin gets angry you never know 'whats gonna happen'. Joe gonna..
On friday evening it was a busy day and I had to really rush by 5 o clock to sweep everything aside and start off to the railway station. I would have to catch metro train from tambaram sanatorium to guindy , then bus from guindy to koyembedu and then from Koyembedu it would be a 12 hour journey to Kambam. And from Kambam to Kumily it is 1 hour and from Kumily to Kanjirappally another 2.5 hours. SO in all it will take me 17 hours shore to shore. I cant care less- the high range journey is so lovely.
From Kambam to kumily - Its the kerala - Tamil nadu border. Mostly it is grapevines all the way. It is a one hour journey you would wish lasted longer. The side views are totally beautiful , captivating , slow.. Slow and other-worldly. The rhythm at which the cows chew showing off the time they have to ruminate.. if they want they can chew a piece of grass until the end of the communist goverments term in Kerala. Picture perfect scenes for a lazy saturday morning will entice any new man in to stop and stare. One day I will make a humble travelogue- from kambam to Kumily and with stops in between for filling the wine bottle. I will include the photos too.
ABBA was once a synonym for western music. They are basically a swedish band which played songs which sounds like christmas. Some of them are different though. Remember the number which Johny English(Rowan atkinson) sings from the bathroom in the movie with the same name? That is ABBA copyright - 'does your mother know'.
At this precise point of time I am ready to play the album with repeat on and lie down to sleep. I wont be tired for another 3 hours. 'SOS','Money money money' and Fernando all have some spooky quality. Especially 'money money money'. When I looked outside the bus window 1 hour after it started from Koyembedu I could see that the bus was cruising through a highway between hills. And suddenly I noticed a huge 10 storey building , brilliantly and colorfully lit. I am lightning struck - It MY office - MEPZ Tambaram! 2 hours of journey took me nowhere..
And this reminded me of a childhood dream(nightmare?) in which I travelled a lot through rough terrains only to find myself at my backyard - Does this sysmbolise mans fear of reaching nowhere even after he has worked hard? And there is another famous dream - you find yourself naked at school suddenly. Its so common a dream , i have read it somewhere. And suddenly connected with my OWN dreams. Another dream I had , version after version as that my mother has an alter ego. In my dreams I would see off my mother to church or somewhere and come back home , and find her sitting there. The chill and sweat is when i find out that the second one was satan.(Dont know how i got to picture an absolutely peaceful and pious lady as satan, may be because she got angry at the kid me once in a while)
Where have I digressed now..? From my night highway bus journey - It was a spooky feeling to relive a dream. And the song changed in my USB mp3 player then suddenly. 'Money money money'. Ah . Ambience. I bow.
Saturday was spent for domestic wanderings. And then came sunday. It came very suddenly , I didnt get enough time at home. The IPL match between Saurav Ganguly's Kolkata and some other team starts at 4 pm. My train is at 5.30 from Kottayam. What I did - i headed to Ernakulam by 2.30. My plan was to catch up with KKR action and after that catch the train. But I got late and dropped the plan and called up SRK.
SRK and Natesan was wasting a sunday as usual in Marine drive when I called. We met and by the time we parted it was too late. Fortunately the train was running late and I got into the station with 5 whole minutes to spare.Sunday gone.
JOB
There is a lot of talk about software job killing/boring/wasting good people. I dont agree at this point of time;). For the past three weeks my job is 'blogging'. In a restricted sense. Infosys would give KT through webex to two of us CTS guys who will be taking over the project in another month from Infy. based on the recorded webex session we have to prepare understanding documents. On first day its peer review. I hate it when someone touches something I wrote but then my current team mate is of such class that I dont mind him cutting a couple of my sentences.I am switching from a US client to a UK client, lot of my colloquial sentences are getting ctrl+alt+deleted nowadays. Time to break a habit of being different by being casual..
After peer review its another companys review - Infosys , our respected tough competitor. And on the next day its going to be reviewed by a UK citizen with asian origin and next day by a pure british guy.Within four days our blabberings reach top level. And we two guys are licenced to blabber. What a beauty.
[I dont want to write down the clients name because it is against agreement :P moda soda]
